Privacy Policy
1Who we are
Chirp is operated by Geddes Ventures LLC, a California limited liability company. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and what controls you have.
This policy applies to the Chirp mobile app, the website at chirp-kids.com, and any related services.
2What we collect
We collect only what's needed to run the app for you. Specifically:
| Category | What's collected | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account | Email address, password (hashed), optional display name | To sign you in and contact you about your account |
| Kid profiles | Name (or nickname), emoji avatar, screen-time balance | To track tasks and rewards for each child |
| Tasks & completions | Task descriptions you create, completion timestamps, photo proofs you upload | To run the reward system you set up |
| Subscription status | Whether you're on the free or Family plan, trial state, renewal date | To unlock paid features and show your billing status |
| Device data | iOS version, app version, push notification token (if you opt in) | To deliver push notifications and debug crashes |
We do not collect: precise location, contacts, browsing history outside the app, microphone, health data, advertising identifiers, or biometric data. Face ID / Touch ID happens entirely on your device — Apple never shares your biometric data with us.
Payments. All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your credit card, bank account, or full billing address. RevenueCat (our subscription management provider) tells us only whether you have an active subscription, what plan, when it renews, and an anonymized transaction ID.
3How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate the app — let you sign in, manage kid profiles, create tasks, approve completions, and grant rewards;
- Process subscriptions and apply paid features;
- Send transactional emails (sign-in links, password resets, account changes) and, if you opt in, push notifications about task approvals;
- Diagnose crashes and improve reliability;
- Respond to your support requests;
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your data for advertising, ad targeting, AI model training, or any third-party marketing.
4Children's privacy
Chirp is designed for families, but children do not create their own accounts. A parent or legal guardian creates the account and adds children as profiles inside the account. Children interact with the app only through their parent's account, under the parent's supervision.
Information about children — names (or nicknames), emoji avatars, task completions, and photo proofs — is provided by the parent. Parents have full control to view, edit, or delete this information at any time from the app's Settings, including permanently deleting all data via Settings → Account → Delete Account.
We comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe we've inadvertently collected information from a child outside of a parent's account, contact [email protected] and we'll delete it promptly.
5How we share information
We share data only with service providers we need to run the app, and only the minimum amount they need to do their job:
| Provider | What they receive | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Apple | App Store purchase data, push notification tokens | Billing & notifications |
| Supabase | Account, kid profiles, tasks, completions, photos | Database & authentication |
| RevenueCat | Anonymized user ID, subscription status | Subscription management |
| Resend | Email address, message content | Sign-in / transactional email |
We don't sell personal information. We don't share it with advertisers or data brokers. We may disclose information if required by law (subpoena, court order) or if necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others — and only the minimum needed in such cases.
6Where data is stored
Account data and content are stored on Supabase infrastructure in the United States (us-east-1 region). If you use the app from outside the U.S., your data will be transferred to and processed in the U.S.
7How long we keep your data
We keep your account and content for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account in-app, we permanently delete all associated data — kid profiles, tasks, completion history, photo proofs, and your authentication record — within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., tax records for completed subscription transactions, which are kept for the period required by applicable law).
8Your rights and controls
You can:
- Export your data — Settings → Account → Export My Data. We email you a JSON file with everything we have for your account.
- Delete your account — Settings → Account → Delete Account. This is permanent and removes everything from our systems.
- Edit kid profiles, tasks, and history directly in the app.
- Manage push notifications through iOS Settings or the in-app toggle.
- Cancel your subscription through your Apple ID subscription settings.
If you're in California, the EU, the UK, or another jurisdiction with specific privacy rights (right of access, deletion, correction, portability, restriction), you can exercise those rights by contacting [email protected]. We won't discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
9Security
We use industry-standard security practices, including encrypted connections (HTTPS / TLS), hashed passwords, row-level security on our database (no user can read another user's data), and secure cloud storage for uploaded photos. No system is perfectly secure — if we ever experience a data breach affecting your information, we'll notify you as required by law.
10International users
Chirp is currently offered to users in the United States and Canada. If you access the Service from elsewhere, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws. Data is transferred to and processed in the United States.
11Chirp Chore Chart in ChatGPT
Chirp Chore Chart is a free app you can use inside ChatGPT. When you use it, ChatGPT sends us the chart it builds: your kids' first names or nicknames, chore names, reward minutes, and schedules. We use that only to draw the chart you see.
We don't store it, log it, sell it, or share it, and it isn't linked to a Chirp account. Checking boxes and editing the chart happen inside ChatGPT. Your conversation with ChatGPT is covered by OpenAI's privacy policy, not this one. If you tap the button to open Chirp, you go to chirp-kids.com and the rest of this policy applies.
12Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll notify you in-app or by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
