Terms of Service

The short version: Chirp is a subscription app for families. Parents set up tasks; kids earn screen time. We charge for the Family plan, you can cancel anytime in Apple Settings, and we don't sell your data. The full terms below cover the legal details.

1Agreement to these Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Geddes Ventures LLC ("Chirp", "we", "us"), a California limited liability company, governing your access to and use of the Chirp mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account, downloading the app, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

2Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create a Chirp account. The Service is designed for parents and legal guardians to manage screen time for their own children. Children may interact with the app under a parent or guardian's supervised account, but children may not create their own accounts. If you are a parent enabling a child to use the app, you represent that you have legal authority to consent on their behalf.

3Your Account

You're responsible for the information you provide and for keeping your password secure. You agree to provide accurate information and to update it when it changes. You're responsible for all activity that happens under your account, including actions taken by anyone you share the account with (such as a co-parent). 4Subscriptions, Billing, and Free Trial

Chirp offers a free tier with limited features and a paid Chirp Family subscription with full features. Family is available as a monthly or annual subscription, with pricing displayed at the point of purchase.

Free trial. New Family subscribers may be eligible for a 7-day free trial. The trial begins when you subscribe. To avoid being charged, cancel before the trial ends in your Apple Account subscription settings.

Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your Apple ID will be charged for renewal within 24 hours of the period end at the price displayed when you subscribed.

How to cancel. Manage or cancel your subscription anytime by going to Settings → [your Apple ID] → Subscriptions on your iPhone, or through the "Manage in Apple Settings" link inside the Chirp app.

Refunds. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled directly by Apple. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. We don't issue refunds directly for App Store purchases.

Price changes. If we change the price of a subscription, we'll notify you in advance and ask for your consent before the new price takes effect, as required by Apple.

5Free Tier

The free tier of Chirp lets you manage one (1) child profile with up to five (5) active tasks, with manual approval and photo proof. Free-tier limits and features may change over time as we develop the Service. We'll give reasonable notice before any change that would reduce features you're already actively using.

6Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law;
Upload content that is illegal, harmful, harassing, abusive, defamatory, sexually explicit, or that infringes anyone's rights;
Upload photos of children other than your own or those for whom you have legal authority;
Attempt to access another user's account or any non-public area of the Service;
Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Service;
Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without our written permission;
Interfere with or disrupt the Service or any servers or networks connected to it.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

7Your Content

You retain ownership of all content you upload to Chirp — including kid profile names and emojis, task descriptions, and photo proofs submitted to complete tasks ("Your Content"). By uploading content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display Your Content solely for the purpose of operating the Service for you. We don't use Your Content to train AI models, sell to third parties, or display to anyone outside your family account.

You can delete Your Content anytime by deleting your account from Settings → Account → Delete Account, which permanently removes all kid profiles, tasks, completion history, and uploaded photos.

8Intellectual Property

The Chirp name, logo, app design, source code, and all related materials are the property of Geddes Ventures LLC. These Terms don't grant you any rights to our trademarks, logos, or branding except as needed to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes.

9Third-Party Services

Chirp relies on third-party services to operate, including Apple (App Store, push notifications), Supabase (database and authentication), RevenueCat (subscription management), and Resend (transactional email). Your use of the Service is also subject to these providers' terms. We're not responsible for third-party services and don't control how they handle data on their own platforms. 10Disclaimers

The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. Chirp is a tool to help families manage screen time and rewards — it is not a substitute for parenting judgment, medical or psychological advice, or any form of professional childcare.

11Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Geddes Ventures LLC and its members, officers, and affiliates won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of profits, data, or use — arising from or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability to you for any claim related to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) USD $50.

12Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Geddes Ventures LLC from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.

13Termination

You can stop using Chirp at any time and delete your account in-app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we cease offering the Service. On termination, sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive (like intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability) will remain in effect.

14Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we'll notify you in-app or by email. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the new Terms.

15Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
